General Rules

This prospectus will come into force w.e.f. 11 January, irrespective of a student's date of admission. The objective of this institution is not only to provide a high educational standard but also to help in all round personality development of the child.

Since habits are formed during the primary stage of a child's education, the school attaches great importance to moral education and character building. These moral lessons help the children in growing strong intellectually, morally and spiritually. In short, the school aims to turnout smart students with a sense of responsibility and high ideals.

Its impressive and spacious building is fitted with electric lights and fans, Physics, Chemistry, Biology Lab and a Computer Lab with lots of computers. The school is equipped with all modern appliances and with trained and experienced teachers.

St. Mary's Day Inter College imparts education on modern scientific methods with the help of various teaching aids. As per modern technology we educates with the help of power point presentation (Audio Visual). General Knowledge competitions, Art contest, Group Discussions, Flower arrangement, Music, Dance, Debates and Elocution contests Cricket, football, Volleyball & Kho-kho are held regularly throughout the year.

Besides this, rangoli, clay modeling & writing competitions are also held regularly on interschool competitions meet.

The finer points of Good Manners and Etiquette are taught through Practical demonstrations.

National Festivals like Independence Day, Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanti are celebrated with great enthusiasm to develop the feeling of patriotism amongst the students.

Other co-curricular activities include physical training classes, regular games period, Aerobics, Yoga, exercises and cultural programs. These are organized by the school from time to time.

All these activities help in keeping the children physically and mentally alert and give them confidence to face the challenges of life.

Medium of Instruction:

The medium of instruction is English.

Individual Attention:

All the students are assured individual attention in academic as well as their physical, mental and moral development.

English Conversation Classes:

To develop fluency in spoken English, the children of class K.G. onwards have to speak in English Only.

Meritorious scholarships and Awards:

The institution awards meritorious scholarships in the form of Medals suitable prizes to the first three position-holders of every class.

Learning Good Habits, Manners and Etiquette:

The children are taught good habits, manners and etiquette not only in the classes but also through practical demonstration in the Joint-Assemblies and workshops which are regular features of this school.

GK, Art, Debating, Dance, Music, Flower Arrangement and Elocution Competitions :

General Knowledge, art, dance, music flower arrangement and elocution contests are held regularly. Prizes are given to the first three position holders of every House. This helps in all round development of the child by building up their self confidence and sense of initiative.

Annual Concert and Cultural Programs:

The children are encouraged to participate in the various cultural programs P.T Display and Annual Sports of the College. This also helps in personality development.

Attendance:

1. A minimum attendance of 90% of the total working days is required during the working year.
2. A Written application for leave must be given in advance. In case of illness and other unforeseen circumstances the guardian should inform the Principal as soon as possible.
3. Late comers and absentees from school will not be admitted to the class without Principal's signature on the leave note.
4. School authorities may exercise their right of not re-admitting the student who fail to return within three days after the summer vacations or after the end of the academic year.
5. If a student continues to remain absent for 10 days without the permission of the Principal, his/her name will be struck off the rolls.

School Cabinet:

1. School has four houses named: Solomon House (Red), David House Green), Matthew House (Yellow), Peter House (Blue).
2. Outstanding students of these Houses are enrolled in the school cabinet. The best student among these is selected as Head Girl and Head Boy.
3. From each House two students are chosen as House Captain and Vice Captain. These students assist the teachers in maintaining discipline, cleanliness in the school and also help other children.

Class work and Homework:

Every childish required to do all the allocated class work and home work regularly. Merits are given to the children doing their class work and home work daily and these factors are taken into consideration in selecting the best students of the school.

Examinations: Parents can request for personal scrutiny of any answer papers.
The decision of the school authorities with regard to promotion is final. Students absent in any Examination Class test will not be re-examined. Promotions at the end of the year will be based on the child's performance all through the year.
This makes it imperative for the child to take all Test, to be regular in doing his/her class and home assignments (Class work and Homework) and to do the Project work to the best of his/her ability. As per the norms of CBSE Board, if student is to get through the Final Assessments, on which promotions will be based, and the result of which will be FINAL and BINDING. There will be no retests and plea to promote failures will mot be entertained on any account. If the child remains absent from exam even for a day, his/her leave application MUST be supported by a Medical Certificate.

Suggestion to Parents:

1. Parents are requested to look into their children's home work diaries every day and see that the lessons and home work assigned for the next day are done.
2. Parents are informed that occasional reports, and recommendations from teachers are made in the school diary. They are requested to sign them as proof that they have read them.
3. Parents are expected to co-operate with the school authorities in enforcing regularity and discipline, and see that the children prepare their lessons and tests and also take an active interest in all school activities.
4. Parents are recommended to call at the Principal's office at least once in each term, to ascertain the conduct and progress of their child.
5. Complaints, if any, should be made to the Principal in writing and not to the class teacher.
6. Private tuitions are not encouraged. If they are necessary, it is advisable to consult the Principal and obtain a written permission.
7. Criticism of a teacher in the presence of the child should be avoided, because it causes the student to lose respect for his/her teacher and the school.
8. Parents are not allowed to see their children, or to interview their teachers during school hours without the permission of the principal.
9. Parent teacher meetings are a regular feature of this institution. In these meetings, parents meet the teachers and are informed about the conduct and progress of their children in school. Attendance of the parents is compulsory in these meetings.
10. The school recognizes that the maximum benefit of any services to children will only be realized through close co-operation with their parents.

Recommendation to Students:

1. Students must come to school properly dressed in the school uniform. Children coming untidy or in incomplete uniform will not be allowed to attend school.
2. Every student must develop the habit of being punctual and is expected to be present in the morning assembly. Late comers will be sent back home.
3. We expect students to be polite, friendly and well-behaved in and outside the school.
4. Students must accept the work and responsibility entrusted to them with cheerfulness, and face difficulties with courage and determination.
5. Students are expected to be respectful towards the school authorities.
6. Students must be honest and truthful, whatever be the cost.
7. Students selected as the House Captains are expected to do their dutics diligently and to the full satisfaction of the school authorities.
8. Eight outstanding students are given the posts of cabinet ministers in the school cabinet.
9. The students securing the highest merits throughout the year are appointed as Head Girl and Head Boy of the school. All students selected for these posts are expected to complete their allocated tasks sincerely.

General Rules and Regulations:

1. Last working day of every month will be a half day.
2. Students are not permitted to run and shout in the school premises. They should well-behaved at all times.
3. Student suffering from a contagious disease shall not be allowed in the school until he/she gets a doctors fitness certificate.
4. Articles found in the school premises are to be handed over in the Principal's office.
5. Fines may be imposed by the Principal for any damage to the school property.
6. The interpretation of any rules in this prospectus rests solely and entirely with the Governing body of this school. Their interpretation and decision is final and binding on the parents and guardians.
7. Any valuable items, mobile phones is not allowed in School premises if lost, school will not be responsible.
8. Parents must collect their wards within 15 minutes of school leaving time if the child is not taken within the stipulated period then the parents are responsible for safety of the child.

Admissions:

1. Parents seeking admission of their child are required to fill up a prescribed application form.
2. For admission in Nursery the child should have attained the age of 3+years. Some margin in age may be given to children, if they are suitable for the class.
3. Admission to K.G. and above will be done after an entrance test.
4. At the time of Admission parents must produced Birth Certificate in case of class Nursery and Transfer Certificate from previous school.

School Fees:

1. All school dues are payable from the 1st to 5th, 10th and 15th of the month, dues in installment, failing which fine will be charged.
2. If the Fees are not cleared by the last working day of the month the name of the defaulter will be struck off. Thereafter, the name will be resorted on the payment of Rs. 500/- as re-admission fee.
3. Children who attend the school even for one day in April and are withdrawn due to any reason will have to pay the full fees upto September, regardless of whether they take the T.C, or not.
4. Parents should keep the fee receipt issued to them and produce them as a proof of payment, if needed.
5. Fees will be charged as given in fees card.
6. Cycle stand fee will be charged for 12 months.

Syllabus:

The following subjects are taught in Nursery, Kindergarten and Preparatory classes, with the help of charts, books and teaching aids. Medium of instruction is English only.
